This is a soft contemporary painting inspired by the Simon and Garfunkel song of the 60’s called Homeward Bound. It’s a song about the conflict between wanting to follow your heart but being prevented from doing so by obligations and circumstances. Paul Simon wrote the song about his feelings of being on the road while longing to be at home with his first love. I think these are emotions most of us have felt at some point. This painting is acrylic paint, varnish and ink on stretched canvas. It has many layers of paint, drips, marks and scratches that go towards making a complex interplay of shapes and subtle colours. The collage element in the painting is from the musical score of Homeward Bound. The sides are painted white and it is signed on the front and back. It comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. It is registered in the National Registry of Australian Art and Artists, registration number supplied. It is ready to hang with a wire across the back.
